If you are not careful when you reinstall your web browser or your operating system, you may lose your bookmarks. This is why bookmark managers are so helpful. jBoom allows you to organize your bookmarks in a simple and comfortable manner, but the most important part is that it allows you to store your bookmarks on a remote server, making them accessible from anywhere.

The application is lightweight and free. It is written in Java, so you can use it on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms. The setup wizard allows you to choose how to install jBoom. You can install it as a program or an applet, in a local folder or on a remote system. You can also opt for a simple or an expert installation procedure.

Bookmarks can be created in a tree structure, on the application's compact interface. You may create your own system of folders and sub-folders and organize your bookmarks however you want. To create a bookmark, you just need to name it and specify a URL, on a separate window.

You can use a search function, on the main interface, to locate specific bookmarks instantly. Additionally, you can hit the sorting option, located on a toolbar, to sort your bookmarks alphabetically. Double clicking a saved bookmark will open its corresponding URL.

The application will open bookmarks with your default web browser, but you can set a different one, by specifying its path, in the general settings menu. You can also store and organize email addresses and specify a mail client, in the same settings panel. Besides setting up different browsers and mail clients, you can also create one or more remote connections. You can opt for FTP, SSH or HTTP connections. Depending on the connection type, you will have to insert different details, like addresses, usernames, passwords and so on.

Pros

You can organize your bookmarks and email addresses in a tree structure and store them on a remote server. jBoom allows you to establish FTP, SSH and HTTP connections. The application can be associated with a web browser and a mail client of your choice.

Cons

The possibility of importing bookmarks from web browsers would be a welcomed addition. With jBoom, your bookmarks and email addresses will stay safe and you will be able to access them from any computer.
